Raven Horse Music, a full-service recording studio, is located near the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. Combining creativity with experience, we provide artists with a format that will showcase their talent. Our goal is to serve both the established and beginning artist. Founded by Native American Flute player, Jim Sims, who followed the flute’s lure into music after discovering his own Native American heritage. Jim’s professional career began in ranching and rodeo, and later, he concentrated his talents on raising, training, and showing cutting horses. His success in the cutting horse business is evident in the many top horses he has trained and ridden. As time passed, Jim was faced with the reality that his long career as a professional cowboy had taken a serious toll on him and that it was time to pursue a new career. Playing the Native American Flute had become a consuming and relaxing hobby. | ||

After hearing Amazing Grace played by another Native American recording artist, he dedicated himself to learning to play this type of flute. Having no formal music background only made him willing to practice more and work harder to accomplish his musical goal. He utilized the same tenacity that made him successful with cutting horses and fused it into his music…and the haunting, melodic notes of the Native American Flute evolved into his new career. Currently living near the Wichita Mountains has brought a new dimension to Jim’s music. He spends many hours practicing while sitting on the great boulders overlooking the ancient trails of the Plains Indians. Shifting breezes harmonize with the flute notes and whisper memories to the hawks above and to the grazing buffalo herds. Much of his music is inspired and influenced by the symphony of nature breathed to life by our Creator. It is Jim’s desire that his music brings the peacefulness of nature to his listeners and causes them to reflect upon a time of serenity. Today Jim’s musical talent and professionalism are evident throughout the country. He has performed for many diverse audiences in the central and eastern realms of the United States. His CD recordings have touched the inner souls of a vast number of people who enjoy a musical escape from the confusion and turmoil of today’s uncertain life. Realizing that music is the medium that relates to the hearts of mankind, Jim Sims has expanded his musical opportunities with the formation of Raven Horse Music, a recording studio with limitless possibilities for bringing a multitude of musical expressions to life.
